Accessibility
We want Day Planner by MyKey to work for everyone, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, larger text or less motion. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are not finished. This page says plainly what we have checked and what we have not.
What we have built in
- You can use every tool with a keyboard alone. A "Skip to main content" link is the first stop on every screen.
- A clear ring shows which button, link or box the keyboard is on.
- Schedule steps are moved up and down with buttons. Nothing needs dragging.
- When you add, move, remove or check off a step, or add or undo a token, the app sends a short message for screen readers, and the keyboard stays on a button that makes sense.
- Each screen has one main heading, and each tool has its own title in the browser tab.
- Buttons, links and boxes are at least 44 pixels tall and wide.
- Words and buttons have strong contrast against the background.
- A finished step shows a tick and a line through the words, so it does not depend on color alone.
- There are no time limits and no sound.
- The small movement on the screen stops within 5 seconds. If your device is set to Reduce Motion, nothing moves.
- The breathing guide stops by itself after 5 breaths, and it has a pause button. With Reduce Motion on, the words still change but the circle stays still.
- The screens fit a phone that is 320 pixels wide, and they still fit when the text is twice as large.
How we tested
On October 10, 2026 we checked every screen of the app and these pages in the Chromium browser. We used:
- Automated axe checks on every screen
- A keyboard-only walk-through
- A phone width of 320 pixels
- Larger text, at twice the usual size
- The Reduce Motion setting
These checks were made with testing tools. They do not take the place of hearing from the people who use the app.
What we know still needs work
- With very large text on a small phone, a very long word that you type can break onto two lines.
- With very large text, the example words inside the "What is the step?" box can be cut short. The label above the box is always shown in full.
- The breathing guide starts as soon as you open "Take deep breaths". You can pause it, but it does not wait for you to press start.
- The pause button on the breathing guide is a picture with no words on it. Screen readers hear its name, "Pause breathing guide".
What we have not tested yet
- People who use VoiceOver or TalkBack every day
- Switch control
- Windows High Contrast
- Safari and Firefox
- The time box on real phones
- The app inside each flipbook viewer
